Getting started
Who is FeelCharts for?
Mental health clinicians in direct-pay practice: therapists and counselors on the $19 Clinician plan, and psychiatrists and PMHNPs who prescribe on the $99 Prescriber plan. It is the chart, the client board, scheduling, notes, payments, and telehealth in one system.
How do clients get reimbursed if you do not bill insurance?
With a superbill. It is built from the visits you already charted: dates, codes, place of service, the diagnosis, and what the client paid. The client sends it to their insurer themselves, and the money comes back to them. No claim leaves your office.
Who is responsible for clinical decisions?
You are. FeelCharts drafts notes, suggests codes, and flags interactions and allergies, but every note, code, diagnosis, and prescription is yours to review and approve. The software supports your judgment; it does not replace it.
Do you sign a BAA?
You are the covered entity, and FeelCharts handles your clients' records as your business associate. The practice owner signs our Business Associate Agreement inside FeelCharts before any client records go in. You can read it at feelcharts.com/baa.
I am a client of a practice that uses FeelCharts. Who do I contact?
Your clinician or their practice. Your record belongs to your practice, and only they can answer questions about your care, appointments, prescriptions, or bills, or make changes to your record. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or dial 911.
Running your practice
Can I bill insurance through FeelCharts?
No, and that is deliberate. There is no clearinghouse, no claim submission, no eligibility check, and no denial queue. FeelCharts is built for clinicians who took their practice direct pay. If you bill insurance, you want a different tool and we will say so.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Start free, bring your clients over, and only pay when you are ready. Cancel anytime.
Is my client data private?
Yes. Every record is encrypted in transit and at rest, and fenced to your account by a database-level policy, so no other clinician can reach your chart. We do not sell data, run ad trackers, or share your client list with anyone.
Does the AI write my notes for me?
It drafts them. You review, edit, and approve every note. Nothing is filed until you say so, and every code is yours to confirm.
What happens to the session audio?
It is used to draft the note, then deleted. Short recordings are never written to disk at all, and longer ones are removed from storage as soon as your draft comes back. We do not keep a library of your sessions.
Can I move off SimplePractice or Google Docs?
In an afternoon. Import your client list and history, keep your current tool running alongside, and switch when you are ready.
Can I fax from FeelCharts?
Yes, as an optional add-on. A dedicated HIPAA-compliant fax number for your practice is $15 a month with 100 pages included, then 15¢ a page, sent or received. Send from any chart and file incoming faxes to a client. If you already have a fax service you like, keep it; nothing else in FeelCharts depends on it. We issue new numbers and do not port existing ones.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, any time, in one click, from inside the app. You get every client, note, medication, invoice, message, and uploaded document as one archive: readable chart files for you, JSON and CSV for whatever system comes next. No ticket, no waiting period, no fee. It is your data, and the export is how we prove it.
E-prescribing
Who chooses the medication and the pharmacy?
The prescriber chooses the medication. The patient chooses the pharmacy. FeelCharts never picks either one. The prescriber decides the drug, the dose, and the directions, and reviews the interaction and allergy checks before sending. The patient tells the practice which pharmacy they want, and the prescription goes there.
How does a patient choose a pharmacy?
From the full e-prescribing pharmacy directory, searched by name, city, state, or ZIP code, and narrowed by pharmacy type, including retail, mail order, specialty, long-term care, and 24 hour pharmacies. The practice asks at the first visit and confirms at every visit after.
Can a patient change their pharmacy?
Yes, any time. They tell their prescriber or the practice, and the new pharmacy is saved to their chart for the next prescription.
Can I prescribe controlled substances?
Yes, on the Prescriber plan, after a one-time identity proofing step, and with two-factor authentication every time you sign a controlled-substance prescription. You also need a current DEA registration. If either lapses or is revoked, controlled-substance prescribing stops until it is resolved.
Who provides the e-prescribing?
A certified e-prescribing partner, DoseSpot, built into the $99 Prescriber plan. The e-prescribing network, EPCS, and identity proofing are part of the seat: one bill, one login, and the chart and the prescription live in the same place.
Are interactions and allergies checked?
Yes, at the point of prescribing. Every medication on the chart carries a coded drug field, which is what interaction and allergy checking read from, and the allergy list sits beside the medication list on every chart.
